265th Field Artillery Battalion 1940–1947 (World War II) The 265th Field Artillery Battalion was constituted on 18 February 1943 in the Army of the United States and activated on 20 April 1943 at Camp Gruber, Oklahoma. The battalion was equipped as a 155mm howitzer unit and trained for overseas deployment. During World War II, the 265th served in the European Theater, participating in the Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns. Following the end of hostilities, the battalion was inactivated on 27 January 1946 at Camp Kilmer, New Jersey.
