The 209th Field Artillery Battalion was constituted on 24 June 1942 in the Army of the United States and activated on 15 August 1942 at Camp Gruber, Oklahoma. The battalion served during World War II, participating in campaigns in the European Theater, including Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, and Central Europe. Following the end of the war, the 209th Field Artillery Battalion was inactivated on 26 November 1945 at Camp Kilmer, New Jersey.
