Unit History

The 330th Field Artillery Battalion was constituted as part of the United States Army and has a lineage that traces back to the early 20th century. The unit was originally organized as the 330th Field Artillery Regiment in the National Army on 5 August 1917 at Camp Custer, Michigan, as part of the 85th Division. It served during World War I and was demobilized in 1919 following the end of the conflict. The regiment was reconstituted in the Organized Reserves in 1921 and underwent several reorganizations and redesignations over the years. During World War II, the unit was reorganized and redesignated as the 330th Field Artillery Battalion and served as part of the 85th Infantry Division. The battalion participated in campaigns in the Italian Theater, including the Rome-Arno, North Apennines, and Po Valley campaigns. After the war, the unit was inactivated in 1945 and later reactivated in the Army Reserve, continuing its service as part of the U.S. Army’s reserve artillery forces. Sources: Wikipedia.
