Unit History

The 30th Tank Company was a unit of the United States Army National Guard. It was organized and federally recognized on 3 June 1921 at Boston, Massachusetts. The company was an element of the 26th Division and served as a tank unit during the interwar period. The 30th Tank Company was inducted into federal service on 16 January 1941 at Boston as part of the mobilization for World War II. Subsequently, the unit was redesignated as Company D, 745th Tank Battalion on 1 February 1941. The 745th Tank Battalion later participated in several campaigns in the European Theater during World War II, including Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, and Central Europe.
