26 Tank Company 1940–1947 (World War II) The 26 Tank Company was a unit of the United States Army that was constituted and activated during the World War II era. As with many tank companies of the period, it was organized to provide armored support to infantry and other ground forces. The company participated in training and readiness activities in preparation for potential deployment. However, available sources do not indicate overseas combat service or campaign participation for the 26 Tank Company during World War II. The unit was inactivated following the end of the war as part of the broader postwar drawdown and reorganization of Army armored forces.
