Unit History

The 211th Coast Artillery Regiment (Anti-Aircraft) was a unit of the Massachusetts National Guard. It was originally organized in 1924 as the 211th Artillery, Coast Artillery Corps (Anti-Aircraft), and federally recognized on 1 July 1924. The regiment was assigned to the Coast Artillery Corps, specializing in anti-aircraft defense. During World War II, the 211th was inducted into federal service on 16 September 1940 and served in various locations within the continental United States, providing air defense for critical installations. The regiment underwent several reorganizations during the war, and its elements were eventually redesignated as separate anti-aircraft artillery battalions in 1944. Sources: Wikipedia.
