211th Coast Artillery Regiment (Anti-Aircraft) 1940–1947 (World War II) The 211th Coast Artillery Regiment (Anti-Aircraft) was a Massachusetts National Guard unit constituted in 1924 and federally recognized in Boston. Mobilized for World War II, the regiment was inducted into federal service on 16 September 1940. Initially stationed at Camp Edwards, Massachusetts, the 211th was tasked with the air defense of key installations in the Boston area. During the war, the regiment underwent several reorganizations and redesignations as part of the Army’s evolving anti-aircraft artillery structure. Elements of the 211th were deployed to various locations within the continental United States, providing anti-aircraft protection for critical military and industrial sites.
