11th School Group
1914–1921 (World War I)
The 11th School Group was constituted on 6 February 1918 as part of the Air Service, United States Army, during World War I. It was organized at Kelly Field, Texas, and served as a training unit for aviators. The group was responsible for providing advanced flight instruction to new pilots, supporting the rapid expansion of the Army’s air capabilities during the war. Following the Armistice, the group was demobilized on 18 November 1918.
1922–1939 (Interwar Period)
The 11th School Group was reconstituted and organized on 1 July 1922 at Brooks Field, Texas, as part of the Air Service’s efforts to standardize and improve pilot training in the interwar years. The group oversaw advanced flying training and played a key role in developing the curriculum and standards for Army aviators. It remained active until its inactivation on 1 August 1931, as the Army Air Corps consolidated its training operations.
