The XI Corps was first constituted in the Regular Army of the United States on 1 October 1933. It was activated on 15 June 1942 at Chicago, Illinois. During World War II, XI Corps participated in the Pacific Theater, notably in the campaigns of New Guinea, Leyte, and Luzon. The Corps played a significant role in the liberation of the Philippines, conducting operations in northern Luzon and contributing to the defeat of Japanese forces in the region. After the end of World War II, XI Corps was inactivated on 11 March 1946 in Japan.
