Unit History
The XI Corps was first constituted in the Regular Army of the United States on 1 October 1933. It was activated on 15 June 1942 at Chicago, Illinois. During World War II, XI Corps participated in several significant campaigns in the Pacific Theater, including the New Guinea, Leyte, and Southern Philippines campaigns. The Corps played a crucial role in the liberation of the Philippines, conducting amphibious operations and supporting ground forces in the drive to retake key islands from Japanese control. After the end of World War II, XI Corps was inactivated on 11 March 1946 in Japan.
