105th Medical Battalion
1940–1947 (World War II)
The 105th Medical Battalion was constituted in the National Guard and assigned to the 30th Infantry Division. It was inducted into federal service on 16 September 1940 at home stations. During World War II, the battalion provided medical support to the 30th Infantry Division throughout its campaigns in the European Theater, including Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, and Central Europe. The battalion played a critical role in treating and evacuating casualties during some of the division’s most intense combat operations. Following the end of hostilities, the 105th Medical Battalion was inactivated on 25 November 1945 at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.
