57th Medical Battalion
1940–1947 (World War II)
The 57th Medical Battalion was constituted on 10 August 1942 in the Army of the United States and activated on 25 August 1942 at Camp Barkeley, Texas. During World War II, the battalion provided medical support in the European Theater of Operations, participating in several campaigns including Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, and Central Europe. The unit was inactivated on 25 January 1946 in Germany following the end of hostilities.
