Unit History
The 6th Medical Battalion was constituted on 23 March 1925 in the Regular Army as the 6th Medical Battalion and assigned to the 6th Division. It was activated on 1 October 1939 at Fort Lewis, Washington. During World War II, the battalion provided medical support to the 6th Infantry Division, participating in campaigns in New Guinea, Luzon, and the Southern Philippines. The unit was inactivated on 10 January 1949 in Korea. It was later redesignated and reactivated as part of the Army’s evolving medical support structure.
