1 Medical Regiment 1940–1947 (World War II) The 1st Medical Regiment was constituted in the Regular Army on 23 March 1929 and organized on 1 October 1933 at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania. During World War II, the regiment was reorganized and redesignated as the 1st Medical Group on 15 August 1943. The unit provided medical support and services to U.S. Army forces, contributing to the care and evacuation of wounded personnel in various theaters of operation. Following the end of the war, the 1st Medical Group was inactivated on 20 October 1945 at Camp Kilmer, New Jersey.
