The 307th Medical Battalion was constituted on 23 July 1918 in the National Army as the 307th Sanitary Train and assigned to the 82nd Division. It was organized in August 1918 at Camp Gordon, Georgia. The unit was demobilized on 18 May 1919 at Camp Dix, New Jersey, following World War I. It was reconstituted on 24 June 1921 in the Organized Reserves as the 307th Medical Regiment and assigned again to the 82nd Division. The unit was reorganized and redesignated on 30 January 1942 as the 307th Medical Battalion. During World War II, the battalion participated in campaigns including Sicily, Naples-Foggia, Normandy, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, and Central Europe.
