307th Medical Battalion 1940–1947 (World War II) The 307th Medical Battalion was constituted on 23 March 1925 in the Organized Reserves as the 307th Medical Regiment and assigned to the 82nd Division. It was reorganized and redesignated as the 307th Medical Battalion on 30 January 1942, and ordered into active military service on 25 March 1942 at Camp Claiborne, Louisiana, as part of the 82nd Infantry Division (later the 82nd Airborne Division). During World War II, the battalion provided critical medical support in major campaigns, including Sicily, Naples-Foggia, Normandy (with arrowhead), Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, and Central Europe. The 307th Medical Battalion was inactivated on 15 December 1948 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, following the end of the war and the postwar drawdown. 1948–1957 (Early Cold War / Korea) The battalion was reactivated on 25 March 1948 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, as part of the 82nd Airborne Division. Throughout the early Cold War period, the 307th Medical Battalion continued its mission of providing medical support to airborne operations and training exercises, maintaining readiness during a period of global tension but did not deploy to Korea as a unit.
