211th Infantry Regiment 1940–1947 (World War II) The 211th Infantry Regiment was constituted in the National Guard of the United States and assigned to the 51st Infantry Division. It was organized and federally recognized on 1 July 1946 with headquarters at Miami, Florida. The regiment did not see overseas service during World War II, as it was organized after the war’s conclusion. Its primary role during this period was to provide infantry forces for the postwar National Guard structure in Florida. 1948–1957 (Early Cold War / Korea) During the early Cold War era, the 211th Infantry Regiment remained an integral part of the Florida Army National Guard, continuing its mission of training and readiness. The regiment was not mobilized for federal service during the Korean War. In 1959, as part of the Army’s reorganization under the Combat Arms Regimental System, the 211th Infantry Regiment was broken up and its elements were redesignated, ending its existence as a regimental unit.
