Unit History

The 206th Infantry Regiment was originally constituted in the Arkansas National Guard as the 3rd Arkansas Infantry Regiment in 1917. It was reorganized and redesignated as the 154th Infantry Regiment and assigned to the 39th Division during World War I. After the war, the unit was demobilized but later reorganized in the interwar period. During World War II, the regiment was redesignated as the 206th Coast Artillery (Anti-Aircraft) and served in the defense of the Aleutian Islands and the West Coast of the United States. Following the war, the unit underwent several reorganizations and redesignations, eventually returning to its infantry designation as the 206th Infantry Regiment in the Arkansas Army National Guard. The regiment has continued to serve as a key component of the Arkansas National Guard, participating in both state and federal missions. Sources: Wikipedia.
