385th Field Artillery Regiment 1940–1947 (World War II) The 385th Field Artillery Regiment was constituted on 5 September 1918 in the National Army as the 385th Field Artillery and assigned to the 103rd Division. It was demobilized shortly after World War I on 30 November 1918. The regiment was reconstituted on 24 June 1921 in the Organized Reserves and assigned to the 98th Division. During World War II, the unit was ordered into active military service on 15 September 1942 and reorganized at Camp Breckinridge, Kentucky, as the 385th Field Artillery Battalion. The battalion served as part of the 98th Infantry Division, which was stationed in Hawaii for the defense of the islands and preparation for the planned invasion of Japan. The 385th Field Artillery Battalion was inactivated on 16 February 1946 at Camp Rucker, Alabama, following the end of hostilities.
