Unit History

The 348th Field Artillery Battalion was constituted on 5 August 1917 in the National Army as the 348th Field Artillery and assigned to the 92nd Division. It was organized on 4 September 1917 at Camp Funston, Kansas. The unit served in France during World War I and was demobilized on 17 March 1919 at Camp Dix, New Jersey. The battalion was reconstituted on 24 June 1921 in the Organized Reserves as the 348th Field Artillery and assigned again to the 92nd Division. It was reorganized and redesignated on 30 January 1942 as the 348th Field Artillery Battalion. The unit was ordered into active military service on 10 October 1942 and reorganized at Fort Huachuca, Arizona. During World War II, the battalion served in the European Theater and was inactivated on 3 January 1946 at Camp Kilmer, New Jersey. Sources: Wikipedia.
