The 364th Infantry Regiment was constituted on 5 August 1917 in the National Army and assigned to the 91st Division. It was organized at Camp Lewis, Washington. The regiment participated in major campaigns during World War I, including the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, the Ypres-Lys Offensive, and the Lorraine Campaign. After the war, the regiment was demobilized in May 1919 at the Presidio of San Francisco, California. The 364th Infantry Regiment was reconstituted in the Organized Reserves in 1921 and assigned again to the 91st Division. During World War II, the regiment was activated on 15 August 1942 and served in the European Theater, participating in campaigns in Italy and France.
