Unit History

The 357th Infantry Regiment was constituted on 5 August 1917 in the National Army and assigned to the 90th Division. It was organized at Camp Travis, Texas, and participated in major campaigns during World War I, including the St. Mihiel and Meuse-Argonne offensives. After the war, the regiment was demobilized in June 1919 at Camp Pike, Arkansas. The 357th was reconstituted in the Organized Reserves in 1921 and again assigned to the 90th Division. During World War II, the regiment was activated on 25 March 1942 and took part in the Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, and Central Europe campaigns. Following the war, the regiment was inactivated on 22 December 1945 at Camp Patrick Henry, Virginia, and later underwent several reorganizations as part of the Army Reserve. Sources: Wikipedia.
