139th Field Artillery Regiment 1940–1947 (World War II) The 139th Field Artillery Regiment traces its origins to the Missouri National Guard and was federally recognized prior to World War II. During the war, the regiment was inducted into federal service and assigned to the 35th Infantry Division. The 139th Field Artillery participated in major campaigns in the European Theater, including Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, and Central Europe.
