138th Tank Battalion 1948–1957 (Early Cold War / Korea) The 138th Tank Battalion was constituted in the Ohio Army National Guard on 21 February 1949 and organized on 1 March 1949 with headquarters at Cleveland, Ohio. The battalion was assigned to the 37th Infantry Division and equipped with medium tanks as part of the postwar reorganization of the National Guard. During its service, the 138th Tank Battalion participated in annual training exercises and contributed to the division’s readiness during the early years of the Cold War.
