Unit History

The 63rd Signal Battalion was constituted on 10 November 1941 in the Army of the United States as the 63rd Signal Battalion and activated on 1 June 1942 at Camp Crowder, Missouri. During World War II, the battalion participated in several campaigns, including Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, and Central Europe. After the war, the unit was inactivated on 20 December 1945 in France. It was later allotted to the Regular Army and reactivated on 1 March 1951 at Camp Gordon, Georgia. The battalion has since supported various operations, including deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, providing communications and information systems support to U.S. Army and joint forces.
