Unit History

The 48th Field Artillery Battalion was originally constituted on 1 October 1933 in the Regular Army as the 48th Field Artillery. It was activated on 1 June 1941 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. During World War II, the battalion served as part of the 7th Infantry Division and participated in several major campaigns, including the Aleutian Islands, Eastern Mandates, Leyte, Ryukyus, and Southern Philippines. Following the end of the war, the battalion was inactivated on 20 July 1947 in Korea. It was later redesignated and consolidated with other units, continuing its lineage within the U.S. Army artillery branch.
