50th Field Artillery Battalion 1940–1947 (World War II) The 50th Field Artillery Battalion was constituted on 1 October 1933 in the Regular Army as the 50th Field Artillery and was later redesignated as the 50th Field Artillery Battalion. It was activated on 1 June 1941 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, as part of the Army’s prewar expansion. During World War II, the battalion was assigned to the 6th Infantry Division and served in the Pacific Theater. The 50th Field Artillery Battalion participated in major campaigns including New Guinea, Luzon, and the Southern Philippines. Following the end of hostilities, the battalion was inactivated on 10 January 1949 in Korea.
