Unit History

The 50th Field Artillery Battalion was originally constituted on 5 July 1918 in the National Army as the 50th Field Artillery and assigned to the 15th Division. It was organized on 10 August 1918 at Camp Stanley, Texas. The unit was demobilized on 13 December 1918 at Camp Travis, Texas. It was reconstituted on 1 October 1933 in the Regular Army as the 50th Field Artillery Battalion. The battalion was activated on 1 June 1941 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and assigned to the 6th Infantry Division. During World War II, the 50th Field Artillery Battalion participated in campaigns in the Pacific Theater, including New Guinea, Luzon, and the Southern Philippines.
