Unit History
The 4th Tank Battalion was constituted on 12 February 1941 in the Regular Army as the 4th Tank Battalion and activated on 15 April 1941 at Fort Knox, Kentucky. The battalion was assigned to the 8th Armored Division on 1 April 1942. During World War II, the 4th Tank Battalion participated in campaigns across the European Theater, including Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, and Central Europe. Following the end of the war, the battalion was inactivated on 13 November 1945 at Camp Patrick Henry, Virginia.
