Unit History

The 10th Infantry Regiment was constituted on 3 March 1855 in the Regular Army and organized on 20 April 1855 at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania. The regiment participated in numerous significant campaigns, including the Civil War, where it fought in major battles such as Antietam, Fredericksburg, and Gettysburg. Following the Civil War, the 10th Infantry Regiment served in the Indian Wars, the Spanish-American War, the Philippine Insurrection, and both World Wars. During World War II, the regiment was assigned to the 5th Infantry Division and saw action in the European Theater, including the Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, and Central Europe campaigns.
