65th Coast Artillery Regiment (Anti-Aircraft) 1940–1947 (World War II) The 65th Coast Artillery Regiment (Anti-Aircraft) was constituted in the Regular Army on 20 November 1940 and activated on 1 February 1941 at Fort Bliss, Texas. The regiment was organized to provide anti-aircraft defense for key installations and participated in the defense of the continental United States during the early years of World War II. In 1943, the regiment was broken up and its elements reorganized and redesignated as separate anti-aircraft artillery battalions, which continued to serve in various capacities throughout the war. The regiment itself was not reconstituted after the war, and its lineage ended with the inactivation and redesignation of its component battalions.
