Unit History

63rd Coast Artillery Regiment (Anti-Aircraft) 1940–1947 (World War II) The 63rd Coast Artillery Regiment (Anti-Aircraft) was constituted in the Regular Army on 10 December 1917 and organized at Fort Worden, Washington. During World War II, the regiment was reorganized and redesignated several times to meet the evolving demands of anti-aircraft defense. It was activated for service in the continental United States, providing anti-aircraft protection for key installations and coastal areas. The regiment did not deploy overseas as a unit but played a critical role in the homeland defense network during the war. Following the end of World War II, the regiment was inactivated on 1 September 1945 at Fort Bliss, Texas.
