Unit History
The 53rd Field Artillery Battalion was constituted on 1 October 1933 in the Regular Army as the 53rd Field Artillery. It was redesignated as the 53rd Field Artillery Battalion and assigned to the 6th Infantry Division on 1 October 1940. The battalion was activated on 10 July 1941 at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. During World War II, the 53rd Field Artillery Battalion participated in several campaigns in the Pacific Theater, including New Guinea, Luzon, and the Southern Philippines. Following the end of the war, the battalion was inactivated on 25 January 1949 in Korea.
