403rd Infantry Regiment
1940–1947 (World War II)
The 403rd Infantry Regiment was constituted on 24 June 1921 in the Organized Reserves and assigned to the 102nd Division. It was organized in November 1921 with headquarters at St. Louis, Missouri. During World War II, the regiment was ordered into active military service on 15 September 1942 and reorganized at Camp Maxey, Texas, as part of the 102nd Infantry Division. The 403rd Infantry deployed to the European Theater, participating in campaigns in the Rhineland and Central Europe. The regiment advanced through Germany, contributing to the final defeat of Nazi forces. Following the end of hostilities, the 403rd Infantry Regiment was inactivated on 29 March 1946 at Camp Kilmer, New Jersey.
