Unit History

The 416th Infantry Regiment was constituted on 24 June 1921 in the Organized Reserves as part of the 104th Division. It was organized in November 1921 with headquarters at Salt Lake City, Utah. During World War II, the regiment was ordered into active military service on 15 September 1942 and reorganized at Camp Adair, Oregon. The 416th Infantry Regiment participated in the European Theater of Operations, including campaigns in Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, and Central Europe. After the war, the regiment was inactivated on 20 December 1945 at Camp San Luis Obispo, California.
