Unit History

The 34th Infantry Regiment was constituted on 1 July 1916 in the Regular Army and organized on 15 July 1916 at El Paso, Texas. The regiment served along the Mexican border before participating in World War I, where it was assigned to the 7th Division. During World War II, the 34th Infantry Regiment was assigned to the 24th Infantry Division and participated in the Pacific Theater, including campaigns in New Guinea, Leyte, and Luzon. After the war, the regiment served in the occupation of Japan and later participated in the Korean War, where it was involved in several major campaigns.
