322nd Cavalry Regiment 1922–1939 (Interwar Period) The 322nd Cavalry Regiment was constituted in the Organized Reserves on 15 October 1921 and assigned to the 66th Cavalry Division. It was organized in January 1922 with headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio. During the interwar years, the regiment conducted regular training and participated in annual summer encampments, supporting the Army’s reserve cavalry mission. The regiment remained active in the Organized Reserves throughout the period, but was converted and redesignated as the 549th Signal Aircraft Warning Regiment on 30 January 1942, ending its existence as a cavalry unit.
