27th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion 1940–1947 (World War II) The 27th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion was constituted and activated during World War II to provide air defense for U.S. Army forces. The unit was originally organized as the 27th Coast Artillery Battalion (Anti-Aircraft) and later redesignated as the 27th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion. It served in the European Theater, participating in campaigns to protect Allied forces from enemy air attacks. Following the end of hostilities, the battalion was inactivated as part of the postwar drawdown of anti-aircraft units.
