203rd Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion 1940–1947 (World War II) The 203rd Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion was constituted and activated during World War II as part of the U.S. Army’s rapid expansion of air defense forces. The battalion was organized to provide anti-aircraft protection for ground forces and critical infrastructure against enemy air attacks. During the war, the 203rd participated in several campaigns, deploying to the European Theater of Operations where it contributed to the defense of Allied forces from German aerial threats. Following the end of hostilities in Europe, the battalion was inactivated as part of the postwar drawdown of anti-aircraft units.
