Unit History

The XVI Corps was first constituted on 1 October 1933 in the Organized Reserves as Headquarters, XVI Army Corps. It was activated on 7 December 1943 at Fort Riley, Kansas, during World War II. The Corps participated in the European Theater of Operations, notably in the Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns. Following the end of the war, XVI Corps was inactivated on 7 December 1945 in Germany.
