Unit History
The 52nd Coast Artillery Regiment (Railway) was constituted in the National Army on 24 January 1918 and organized at Fort Adams, Rhode Island. The regiment was equipped and trained to operate heavy railway artillery, which was a critical component of coastal and harbor defense during World War I. The unit was deployed to France in 1918, where it provided railway artillery support for the American Expeditionary Forces. Following the end of World War I, the regiment returned to the United States and was demobilized at Camp Eustis, Virginia, on 31 July 1919.
