36th Field Artillery Regiment 1940–1947 (World War II) The 36th Field Artillery Regiment was constituted on 1 July 1916 in the Regular Army and organized on 1 June 1917 at Camp Bowie, Texas. During World War II, the regiment underwent several reorganizations and redesignations, ultimately serving as the 36th Field Artillery Group. The unit participated in major campaigns in the European Theater, including Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, and Central Europe. The regiment provided critical artillery support during these operations, contributing to the success of Allied ground forces. Following the end of hostilities, the unit was inactivated on 20 December 1946 in Germany.
