Unit History

The 24 Constabulary Squadron was a unit of the British Army, formed as part of the Royal Armoured Corps to serve in the post-Second World War occupation of Germany. The squadron was established in 1946 as part of the British Army of the Rhine’s Constabulary Force, which was tasked with maintaining law and order, controlling borders, and supporting the military government in the British Zone of occupied Germany. The 24 Constabulary Squadron operated armored cars and light vehicles, conducting patrols and security operations throughout its area of responsibility. The unit was disbanded in 1950 as the British Constabulary Force was reorganized and its functions absorbed by other military and civilian agencies.
