Unit History

The 260th Coast Artillery Regiment (Anti-Aircraft) was a unit of the United States Army organized to provide anti-aircraft defense. The regiment was constituted in the Organized Reserve on 1 July 1924 as the 260th Coast Artillery (Anti-Aircraft) and assigned to the District of Columbia. It was organized on 1 July 1924 with headquarters in Washington, D.C. The unit was part of the Coast Artillery Corps, which was responsible for coastal and anti-aircraft defense of the United States. The 260th was primarily tasked with defending the National Capital area against aerial attack.
