Unit History

The 169th Infantry Regiment was originally constituted in 1672 as the Regiment of New Haven County in the Connecticut Militia, making it one of the oldest military units in the United States. The unit was reorganized and redesignated several times throughout its history, serving in various conflicts including the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the Civil War, and both World Wars. During World War II, the 169th Infantry Regiment was assigned to the 43rd Infantry Division and participated in campaigns in the Pacific Theater, including the Solomon Islands, New Guinea, and Luzon. After the war, the regiment continued to serve as part of the Connecticut Army National Guard, with its lineage and honors maintained through subsequent reorganizations. Sources: Wikipedia.
