The regiment served in France as part of the American Expeditionary Forces, primarily performing security and labor duties. During World War II, the 159th Infantry Regiment was again federalized and assigned to the 7th Infantry Division. The regiment participated in the Aleutian Islands Campaign, including the Battle of Attu, and later took part in the liberation of the Philippines. After the war, the regiment was inactivated in 1946 and later reorganized within the California Army National Guard. Sources: Wikipedia. (n.d.). 159th Infantry Regiment (United States).
