Unit History

The 14th Coast Artillery Regiment was constituted on 27 February 1924 in the Regular Army and organized on 1 July 1924 at Fort Warren, Massachusetts. The regiment was assigned to the Harbor Defenses of Boston, where it was responsible for manning and maintaining coastal artillery batteries designed to protect the harbor from naval threats. The 14th Coast Artillery Regiment operated a variety of fixed gun emplacements and supported the broader coastal defense network in the region. The regiment was inactivated on 1 February 1940 as part of a reorganization of the Coast Artillery Corps, with its personnel and equipment reassigned to other units.
