The 1st Tank Company was a unit of the United States Army that was constituted on 5 June 1918 in the National Army as Company A, 1st Tank Center, and organized on 15 June 1918 at Camp Colt, Pennsylvania. The unit was redesignated as the 1st Tank Company on 11 November 1918. It served as part of the early development of American armored forces during and after World War I. The company was demobilized on 30 June 1919 at Camp Meade, Maryland. The 1st Tank Company played a foundational role in the establishment of U.S. armored warfare doctrine and training during its brief period of activity.
